Climate Solutions for a Troubled Planet
With oil prices tanking, does it still matter to replace fossil fuels with clean energy? KC Golden of Climate Solutions gives an enthusiastic thumbs up to alternatives to oil, but also to the clean energy economy on a recent RainmakersTV interview.
But there is a dual path. Oil use is increasing globally, but so is the use of solar, wind, and other power sources. If oil is the problem, can we keep moving forward on the green economy while increasing oil consumption?
Should the US become a leader in decreasing dependency on oil altogether? If so, can alternative energy prices compete with falling oil prices?
My view is that an energy policy based primarily on cost is not a policy. Instead, that is a stop-gap, retail shop mark-down of a product that is struggling for survival.
We must elevate alternatives to fossil fuels at the forefront of any energy policy.
